NODAL POWER HIGHLIGHTS
- Nodal set a trading record for the first half of the year in power futures with volume of 1.64 billion MWh, up 6% from the first half of 2023.

NODAL ENVIRONMENTAL HIGHLIGHTS

- Nodal achieved a half-year record in natural gas trading with a 98% increase from a year earlier.
NODAL AND DEUTSCHE BÖRSE MARKET DATA COOPERATION
- Nodal Exchange launched its cooperation with Deutsche Börse Market Data + Services on May 1st, 2024 to provide access to real-time US energy market data to market participants in both the US and Europe.
Nodal Exchange achieves record growth in power, environmental, and natural gas markets in the first half of 2024
Nodal Exchange announced strong performance in power, environmental, and natural gas futures as of the end of June 2024. Nodal achieved record half year power volume for the first half of 2024 with 1.64 billion MWh traded, up 6% from 1.54 billion MWh traded in the first half of 2023. Nodal Exchange is the leading power futures exchange in North America with the majority of U.S. power futures open interest. Nodal’s 1.377 billion MWh of open interest as of end of June 2024 represents $128 billion of notional value based on both sides. U.S. power futures open interest on Nodal Exchange grew 8% year over year as of the end of June.
Nodal also posted strong growth in volumes and open interest in the environmental market suite in the first half of 2024. Total volume for Nodal environmental products in the first half of 2024 was 271,884 lots, up 65% from 164,638 lots a year earlier. Total open interest in Nodal environmental products ended June 2024 with 351,659 lots, up 30% from a year earlier.
Nodal Exchange recently went live with its cooperation with Deutsche Börse Market Data + Services
Nodal Exchange launched its cooperation with Deutsche Börse Market Data + Services on May 1st, 2024 to provide access to real-time US energy market data to a broad range of market participants in both the US and Europe.
Nodal Exchange makes both its real-time intraday and end-of-day market data available via Deutsche Börse’s Consolidated Exchange Feed (CEF). This offering includes a set of power futures contracts that are geographically representative of the broader US power market, as well as market data for the world’s largest set of environmental futures and options contracts. Nodal’s robust environmental data offering covers over 70 U.S. environmental markets including renewable energy certificates, carbon emissions, voluntary carbon credits, and renewable fuel credits.
This partnership significantly reduces the barriers to accessing Nodal’s market data, as existing Deutsche Börse CEF clients can now receive the data through existing channels, which minimizes development and integration efforts. Customers that are not already connected to CEF also benefit, as Nodal’s market data becomes accessible to hundreds of market data vendors within Deutsche Börse’s existing network.
