Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Cusenza has over thirty years of experience in building and managing businesses. He has been Chief Executive Officer since January 2008 and led Nodal Exchange to its commencement of trading in April of 2009. Prior to Nodal Exchange, he was a co-Founder and co-President of 23andMe, a personal genetics company, and the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Alliance Management at Perlegen Sciences. He was part of the Senior Management Team of Capital One Financial during a period of great growth in the 1990s, as the Managing Director of Value-Added Alliances and Vice President Marketing & Analysis. Prior to Capital One Financial, he was a Vice President and Partner at Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) for nearly a decade focusing on financial services. He also worked for IBM early in his career. Mr. Cusenza holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Business School and a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Chief Technology Officer & Chief Information Officer
Mr. Askew has been the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer at Nodal Exchange since January 2008 and is responsible for all Nodal Exchange technology development, acquisition, and operations. Mr. Askew began his career as an analyst at Dean and Company, a strategic consultancy, and then moved into the field of enterprise software design and development. He has worked in both technical and technical lead roles and came to Nodal Exchange from a position as Director of Development for a custom software development company. Mr. Askew holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University.
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Guillory joined Nodal Exchange in February 2009 and has over fifteen years of experience in accounting, treasury management, financial planning and analysis, and human resource management. Ms. Guillory began her career at KPMG, and held several roles in audit and finance before becoming the controller at Fitz & Floyd prior to joining Nodal Exchange. Ms. Guillory holds a B.S. in Accounting from California State University at Long Beach, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Chief Regulatory Officer & General Counsel
Ms. Herrera has over twenty years of legal experience in energy and commodities trading. She joined Nodal Exchange as the Chief Compliance Officer in October 2008. She was previously the founder and Managing Partner of OTC Legal, LLC (formerly Office of In-House Counsel, LLC) focusing on legal risk management and compliance matters. She began her commodity futures career as an attorney at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and later served at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Ms. Herrera was also Trading Counsel for Statoil Energy and Counsel for the law firms of McGuireWoods and Sutherland. She is an active member of the bar in Virginia and Washington, D.C., and a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Ms. Herrera holds a Juris Doctorate from Temple University Beasley School of Law and a B.B.A. in Business Management from the College of William & Mary.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Karousos joined Nodal Exchange in January 2008. As Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Karousos leads the daily operation of the exchange, including pricing and market surveillance. Mr. Karousos began his career at Cambridge Energy Research Associates and later joined Williams Energy Marketing & Trading’s origination team for the international natural gas market. He has held a variety of roles in industry and management consulting prior to joining Nodal Exchange. Mr. Karousos holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University.
Chief Commercial Officer
Mr. Julian joined Nodal Exchange in 2008 and leads the Energy Markets team for Nodal Exchange. Prior to Nodal Exchange, Mr. Julian was an Energy Broker at Amerex Brokers in Houston. Prior to being an energy broker, Mr. Julian spent over a decade managing power trading for several entities including: Avista Energy (Vitol Gas & Electric), CMS Energy, and Tractebel Energy Marketing. Mr. Julian holds a B.S.B.A. in Finance from West Virginia University.
Chief Marketing Officer
Ms. Ricard has over fifteen years of experience in marketing, and joined Nodal Exchange in March 2008. Prior to joining Nodal Exchange, Ms. Ricard was a Senior Manager, Marketing and Alliance Management, at Perlegen Sciences. She also previously worked in marketing management at AOL, Microstrategy and Capital One Financial. Ms. Ricard holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
Managing Director, Strategy
Mr. Schneider, who has been working for EEX Group for 15 years, joined Nodal Exchange in 2019 as Managing Director, Strategy. In his role he is responsible for the medium to long term strategic development of Nodal Exchange. He also serves as Director Group Strategy for European Energy Exchange (EEX), managing a global team of product experts and project managers and aiming to transform EEX Group into a global commodity exchange. In former roles he was in charge of product design and business development for Power Derivatives and Environmental Markets in Europe and was instrumental in creating the Global Commodities business with EEX Asia. He established and led the corporate Project Management Office (PMO) and served as project portfolio manager while working as Head of Projects for European Commodity Clearing (ECC). Mr. Schneider graduated with a diploma in Business Informatics from Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. He completed the executive education program at the European Business School as Qualified Portfolio Manager for Financial Markets and received a PMP certificate from the Project Management Institute.
Director of Human Resources
Ms. Smith joined Nodal in 2021. She has over 20 years of human resources experience, including leading human resources at Vibrent Health and the National Association of Home Care & Hospice. She received a Master of Science in Business degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore. She has a Senior Professional in Human Resources Certificate (SPHR) and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
